This is a commonly missed injury. The tendon has torn off the elbow and retracted half way up the forearm, which is usually a result of sudden contraction of the muscle when the arm had as to support an unexpected heavy weight.
Appearing as a swelling in the arm. Patient will experience pain and weaken in the shoulder and Elbow. Early repair within 6 weeks can restore function and could secure the repair firmly and enable early movement.
Patient working out in gymnastic weight lifting end up overload the bicep tendon and result in rupture.
Nowadays patient will be advised to use an elbow brace instead of a plaster after surgery. Patient will need an elbow brace for 6 weeks, first 2 weeks lock, second 2 weeks allow 30-90 degree of flexion and then the third weeks at the first session allow full range of movement
