This is the commonest long bone fracture in body often as a result of road traffic accident. The injury is painful and requires prompt treatment as the damaged bone can often penetrate the overlying skin.
Sharp fractures are best treated with intra-medullary nail. They are minimal invasive and can get the patient out of bed the next day.
